The Dhamek Buddhist Stupa, Saranath Varanasi, India

The Dhamek Buddhist Stupa is said to mark the spot where the Buddha gave the first sermon to his first five disciples after attaining enlightenment.

The Dhamek Stupa was built in 500 CE to replace an earlier structure commissioned by the great Mauryan king Ashoka in 249 BCE, along with several other monuments, to commemorate the Buddha's activities in this location.

King Ashoka built stupas to enshrine small pieces of calcinated bone and other relics of the Buddha and his disciples.

Famous Sultanganj Buddha Ftatue.

Sultanganj Buddha statue. the largest substantially complete copper Buddha figure known from the time. The statue is dated to between 500 and 700 AD . The Sultanganj Buddha was cast in pure, unrefined copper by the cire perdue, or lost wax, technique. Inside there is a clay body. Statue found in 1861 during the construction of the East Indian Railway. It is now in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham, England. E. B. Harris, the railway engineer who discovered the Buddha during excavations that he carried out on ancient remains near the Sultanganj station that he was constructing, published a detailed account of his work, complete with a site plan and photographs. He describes finding the right foot of the Buddha ten feet under the surface, beneath a floor he considered to have been used to conceal the statue after it had been toppled from its former place. दीवाली बौद्धों का उत्सव

 भाषा वैज्ञानिक डॉ राजेंद्र प्रसाद सिंह जी लिखते हैं कि "जॉन एस. स्ट्रांग अमेरिका में रिलीजियस स्टडीज के प्रोफेसर हैं। उन्होंने " द लीजेंड एंड कल्ट आफ उपगुप्त " ( प्रिंसटन, 1992 ) नामक किताब लिखी है। इस किताब में उन्होंने " लोकपणत्ती " ( पालि टेक्स्ट ) के आधार पर बताया है कि भारत की दीवाली एक बौद्ध त्योहार है, जिसका आरंभ सम्राट असोक के समय में हुआ था। इस त्योहार को थाईलैंड में " लोई क्रोथोंग " के नाम से जाना जाता है। यही दीवाली चीन, जापान, बर्मा, कंबोडिया आदि बौद्ध देशों में बौद्ध तरीकों से मनाई जाती है। पोस्ट में संलग्न फ़ोटो थाईलैंड दीवाली का ही एक दृश्य है।" अब प्रश्न यह उठता है कि यदि भारतीय मान्यताओं के अनुसार बुद्ध विष्णु का अवतार होते तथा दिवाली भी राम से संबंधित होती तो यह दोनों धारणाएं भी बौद्ध देशों तक सबसे पहले पहुंची होती? आज भारत के बुद्धिस्टो में भी सुगबुगाहट रहती है और वे दीवाली को दीप दानोत्सव के रूप में मनाते रहे हैं लेकिन बौद्ध मान्यताओं को रिसर्च से प्रमाणिक बल मिलता है जबकि हिन्दू मान्यताओं का केवल भावनात्मक बल दिखता है।  दोनो
